Fernanda Noronha is a Brazilian singer-songwriter whose first album “Fernanda Noronha” was recorded under the You Music Records label in April 2005 in Brazil, produced by Norman Connors and Duke Jones and released in 2014 in USA. The album featured 13 songs, all authored by Fernanda Noronha. The Executive Producer was Clarence O. Smith (co-founder of Essence Magazine). The album was recorded in both, Portuguese and English, but only released in Portuguese. The English track version of the album had the famous singer Jean Carne as record/vocal producer.
The main track of this album titled “Um Dia Desses” (One of These Days) also shot on video had considerable radio airplay in Brazil. The video was directed by Pico Garcez and filmed in Bahia, Brazil, and played for many weeks on MTV Brazil.
Born in Salvador- BA, Brazil. Fernanda Noronha began singing at the age of 13 at religious events and church choir. By sixteen she decided to become a professional musician and played with many groups and bands in order to gain experience. She sang in pubs, restaurants, hotels, casinos and big events and music festivals in Brazil and Portugal. Her songs reveal many music influences like, Bossa Nova, samba, soul, rhythm and blues and jazz.
Her passion for jazz had a huge influence in her musical development. She cites in particular the music of Sarah Vaughan and Stevie Wonder, as well as Brazilians Joao Gilberto and Leny Andrade as her major influences.
Performing on stage accompanied by singer/guitarist Jair Luz helped her explore the huge Brazilian jazz repertoire and gave her the opportunity to play small local events at national festivals in Brazil and Portugal.
Fernanda relocated to the United States in the summer of 2011 and calls Atlanta, GA, “home”. Since moving to Atlanta, she has had the chance to sing in many music festivals and private events. Her debut album, released in 2015, is listed by the Brazilian International Press Awards, as one of the top five albums by a new artist.
Her new EP was released in February 2015. The album features four songs of her authorship, and was produced by Khari Simmons Cabral and Darren Benjamin. Her CD includes the participation/collaboration of talented musicians, Rafael Pereira, Julius Speed, Chocolat Costa and Khari Simmons Cabral as well.
Winner of the 2015 Brazilian International Press Awards for “Best Female Singer Residing in the United States”, Fernanda is considered, by her producers and by the public, one of the best Brazilian vocalist and performer in Atlanta for the last four years in a row. Also, she received the “Notable Individual Award" in the category "Artist", presented by Mundo Hispánico Newspaper, the largest Newspaper of the Latin Community in Georgia and she is the first Brazilian artist to receive this award. With more than 500 songs in her repertoire, the singer has been showcasing her own repertoire, Brazilian classics and international hits in several cities in the United States as well as in Brazil.
Fernanda Noronha had two sold out shows at the Velvet Note on May 2015 and on October 2015 and a successful debut at the Atlanta Jazz Festival on May 2015.
